Senatorial candidate of theNigeria Democratic Congress (NDC)in the Anambra South senatorial district, Chief. Dr Ebuka Onunkwo has stated that his sojourn into partisan politics is not for the purpose of amassing wealth for himself. Onunkwo made this assertion in Nnewi when he visited members of the party who supported him during the senatorial primaries of the party held on May 29. He said, “As a private industrialist and businessman, I have invested heavily in human capital development. I’ve built houses for many indigent persons in my area. “For the past 17 years, I’ve been paying school fees for all the students of Community Secondary School, Ihembosi, including their WAEC and NECO examinations. “Several thousand men, women and young people are gainfully employed in my numerous companies. I have also helped thousands of petty traders with seed capital, either to start up or expand their existing businesses. “God has blessed me as a person. I only want to live my life helping others. So, my surgeon going into politics is not to make money for myself but to have a bigger platform, where I will continue to empower a greater number of people. ”Onunkwo, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Sea Horse Lubricants, thanked Nnewi residents, especially the NDC faithful in the area, for the trust reposed in him by electing him to fly the flag of the party in the 2027 election, while assuring that he would not take the support for granted. Dr Onunkwo told his audience that he is the only candidate for the senatorial election in Anambra South who can properly fit into the shoes of the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who hails from the Nnewi community. According to him, “I am the only senatorial candidate for this election who can best fit into the shoes of the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who is your brother. I grew up in politics under the political tutelage of the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah. I have everything it takes to replicate his giant strides in the Senate. “I count on the support of Nnewi residents for the 2027 election. I am a businessman. Ninety per cent of residents of Nnewi are businesspeople. “So, as your senator, Nnewi will be one of the highest beneficiaries of my representation. You need a political representative with experience, capacity and compassion. Dr Ebuka Onunkwo represents these virtues. ”Earlier during the visit, the NDC candidate visited the traditional ruler of Nnewi, Igwe Dr Kenneth Orizu, at his Otolo Nnewi country home, where he received royal blessings for the journey ahead.
