Addressing the Mental Health Crisis - OnImpact

Image: Esther LaneAustralia has an urgent need for more accessible and effective mental health care, with almost half of Australians expected to experience mental ill-health during their lifetime and suicide remaining one of the nation’s leading causes of death for younger people. Scaling access to mental health care will be the focus of an event in Sydney on 6 August, bringing together leaders from the mental health, philanthropy and impact investment sectors to discuss innovative models of care. The event,Addressing the Mental Health Crisis, hosted by Esther Lane in conjunction with the Impact Investment Summit and Novar Impact Capital, will be held in Surry Hills. Bringing together leaders from batyr, Emyria and Malu Health, the evening will explore different approaches to expanding access to mental health care, while highlighting the investment and philanthropic capital needed to accelerate their impact. The discussion will showcase batyr’s preventative youth programs and digital products that encourage open conversations about mental health, Emyria’s rollout of new clinics offering TGA-approved psychedelic-assisted therapy, and Malu Health’s model for delivering more efficient therapy through existing clinics. Speakers include Lucy Steggles, Head of Major Gifts & Philanthropy at batyr, Greg Hutchinson, Executive Chair of Emyria, and Joseph Healy, Founder and CEO of Malu Health. The panel will examine how different models of care can help address Australia’s growing mental health burden and the role investors and philanthropists can play in supporting organisations with the potential to deliver impact at scale. The discussion will be followed by networking drinks, giving attendees the opportunity to connect directly with the organisations and explore investment and philanthropic opportunities. The event starts at 5pm for a 6pm panel conversation at 2 Esther Lane, Surry Hills, Sydney. Seats are limited and attendance is by invitation.
