Air China and Singapore Airlines deepen partnership with planned joint venture - Travel Monitor

Air China and Singapore Airlines have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a commercial joint venture, paving the way for expanded codeshare services, coordinated schedules and fares, and enhanced frequent flyer benefits between the two Star Alliance carriers. The agreement is designed to strengthen connectivity between Singapore and mainland China while supporting tourism, business travel and broader people-to-people links. Subject to regulatory approvals, the airlines plan to expand their existing codeshare partnership to additional destinations between Singapore and China, within China and across their wider networks. Expanded network and customer benefitsThe proposed partnership will see the airlines coordinate flight schedules, explore joint fare products and pursue joint marketing and revenue-sharing arrangements. Customers are also set to benefit from closer integration between Air China’s PhoenixMiles and Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlyer frequent flyer programs, providing more opportunities to earn and redeem points across both carriers. The airlines will also exchange best practices in areas including ground handling, catering and inflight service. Air China and Singapore Airlines have codeshared on selected services since 2016. They currently codeshare on flights between Singapore and Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing and Shanghai. Supporting tourism and business linksAir China President Qu Guangji said the agreement would build on the carriers’ longstanding Star Alliance relationship. “We will further deepen our bilateral partnership, broaden the scope of codeshare arrangements, enhance frequent flyer programme synergies, and vigorously promote our joint venture initiatives,” Qu said. Singapore Airlines CEO Goh Choon Phong said the partnership would create more seamless travel options across the combined networks. “Our partnership will also support the growth of tourism, business, and cultural exchanges, strengthening economic and people-to-people ties while fostering deeper connections and shared opportunities between Singapore and China,” he said. Singapore Airlines currently operates 140 weekly services to Australia across Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Darwin, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. For more information, visitSingapore Airlines
