Chengdu Film City VP Studio has opened a 5,000 sq metre virtual production (VP) facility designed to support film, television, commercial and digital content production. Designed as a fully integrated VP environment, CDFC VP Studio combines LED volumes, motion capture, real-time rendering and camera-tracking technologies within a unified workflow. At the heart of the facility is an 820 sq metre LED volume built with 3,240 AOTO RM2. 3S panels. It includes a 60m by 12m curved LED wall and a 100 sq metre movable LED ceiling that create a 360° immersive environment, while providing a 180° shooting angle and up to 19. 1m of usable depth for in-camera VFX workflows. The LED volume delivers high brightness and refresh rates, as well as exceptional image uniformity, for demanding VP applications. AOTO’s cooling technology maintains stable operating temperatures during extended shooting schedules, ensuring consistent image performance and reliable operation. The facility is also home to a 1,100 sq metre automated rotating stage that facilitates rapid set changes. The studio’s technology stack, meanwhile, also incorporates 48 Brompton Tessera SX40 LED processors and 96 Tessera XD data distribution units, which provide colour accuracy and synchronisation. The project marks another major collaboration between Tencent and AOTO, following the 3,000 sq metre Tencent CDD Virtual Studio in Shenzhen, which is one of the most advanced VP production facilities in south China. AOTO has delivered more than 130 LED VP stages worldwide, with its solutions having been deployed by organisations including Meta, Microsoft and Google.
