(SGF), Barr. Boss Gida Mustapha, has reaffirmed that the Government House Chapel in Yola was established as a non-political, interdenominational place of worship dedicated to fostering faith, unity, and service to humanity. Mustapha made the remarks during the Government House Chapel Sensitization Dinner held at Muna Hotels, Yola, under the theme, “An Evening of Fellowship, Dialogue and Purpose. ” The event brought together government officials, Christian leaders, politicians from different political parties, business executives, professionals, traditional institution representatives, and members of the Christian community. Serving as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Government House Chapel, Mustapha traced the history of the chapel to about two decades ago, when it was established during the administration of former Governor Boni Haruna. He recalled that the chapel was conceived as a place where Christians in government and the wider society could gather for worship, spiritual reflection, fellowship, and unity, irrespective of denominational affiliations. “The Government House Chapel was never created to compete with existing churches,” Mustapha said. “Rather, it was established to complement the work of the Church by promoting faith, love, service to humanity, and spiritual growth. ”He emphasized that the chapel remains an independent Christian fellowship committed to strengthening unity among believers and encouraging moral values within society. The former SGF also commended the administration of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for providing an enabling environment that has allowed the chapel to continue fulfilling its spiritual mandate. According to him, lasting peace and sustainable development in Adamawa can only be achieved through unity, mutual respect, and collaboration among Christians, religious organizations, government institutions, and the wider society. Mustapha urged believers to remain committed to promoting peaceful coexistence and collective responsibility, stressing that faith-based institutions have a vital role to play in shaping a morally upright and prosperous society. The dinner opened with prayers led by Senator Rev. Amos Yohanna, representing Adamawa North Senatorial District, who also holds a unique place in the chapel’s history as its pioneer chaplain when it was established in 2006. The event was attended by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr. Edgar Amos Sunday, who represented Deputy Governor Prof. Kaletapwa George Farauta, who was away on a national assignment. Other dignitaries present included Hon. Adams Kamale, APC’s 2027 deputy governorship candidate, former chaplains, commissioners, special advisers, principal and senior special assistants, representatives of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), traditional institutions, political stakeholders, business leaders, and members of the Christian community. Speakers at the event underscored the Church’s enduring role as a moral compass and an indispensable partner in nation-building, calling for stronger collaboration between government, religious institutions, and communities to advance peace, unity, good governance, and the welfare of citizens. Beyond the formal proceedings, the dinner provided a platform for dialogue and relationship-building across political, religious, and professional divides, reinforcing the shared commitment of stakeholders to the peace and development of Adamawa State. In his vote of thanks, Mr. Jackson Senda, speaking on behalf of the Planning Committee, Board of Trustees, and Chaplaincy of the Government House Chapel, expressed appreciation to all participants for contributing to the success of the gathering. The event concluded with a closing prayer led by Engineer Chidi Mek, as participants renewed their commitment to ensuring that the Government House Chapel remains a beacon of faith, unity, and selfless service in Adamawa State. 📰 Get Latest News UpdatesJoin our Telegram group and receive breaking and trending news updates directly on your phone.
