Throughout its anniversary year, NAWIC has been sharing its30 Stories for 30 Yearscampaign, showcasing inspiring women from across New Zealand who are building careers, leading change and creating opportunities for others. NAWIC President Kirsty Hopewell says the campaign captures what the organisation is all about. “Our 30 Stories for 30 Years campaign reminds us that while we’ve made enormous progress over the past three decades, our greatest opportunity lies ahead. Every story reflects courage, resilience and leadership, but together they tell a much bigger story about the future we’re building for women in construction. ”Hopewell says the anniversary is about much more than reflecting on the past. “Thirty years ago, a group of remarkable women believed the construction sector would be stronger if women had opportunities to connect, learn, be recognised and have a collective voice. That vision became NAWIC. Today, we’re proud of how far we’ve come, but we’re equally excited about where we’re going. We remain committed to connecting, educating and advocating so every woman in construction feels she belongs and has the opportunity to thrive. ”Founded in 1996, NAWIC New Zealand has grown into a nationwide community supporting women from apprentices to executives, championing diversity, equity and inclusion across the construction sector. As NAWIC celebrates its first 30 years, the organisation is renewing its commitment to building a stronger, more inclusive construction sector where women are supported, recognised and empowered to succeed.
