Press Release – TAANZA clear, industry-wide minimum standard would give consumers greater confidence and ensure everyone has access to the same baseline information, regardless of whether they booked directly with an airline or through a travel advisor. Travel Agents’ Association of New Zealand (TAANZ) welcomes the development of an Aviation Consumer Charter and sees it as an important step towards giving travellers greater certainty about their rights when flights are disrupted. Too often, passengers are left unsure about what support they can expect or where to find reliable information. While airlines regularly assist customers during disruptions, the level of support can vary depending on the circumstances, creating unnecessary confusion for travellers. A clear, industry-wide minimum standard would give consumers greater confidence and ensure everyone has access to the same baseline information, regardless of whether they booked directly with an airline or through a travel advisor. TAANZ has been engaging with the Civil Aviation Authority and Consumer NZ on this issue and has long advocated for a framework similar to Australia’s.
