Paradigm Charter & Tours says it will offer transportation for sports teams and other events and organize group tours and other getaways. “We’re hopeful that we have a great start, and already we’re working with community groups and providing service,” company president Scott Kreutzer said Wednesday. “I think it’s going to be excellent out there. ”Paradigm is expecting to start operations at an undisclosed Brandon location on Sept. 1. The city is already host to other charter bus companies, including Compass Coach Lines and Kasper Charters. Kreutzer said Brandon is a “critical point” between Regina and Winnipeg and is significant because his company does some routes for the inter-provincial bus service FlixBus, which started operating a Regina-Brandon-Winnipeg route in May. The Wheat City is also an open market for tours, he said. Paradigm hosts tours across the continent. Tours currently being planned for later this year are to Toronto, Nashville, Deadwood, S. D. , along with nearer destinations such as casinos in Edmonton, Saskatchewan’s Badlands and South Beach north of Winnipeg. “There’s a market there for doing tours. I think that that’s something that hasn’t been done a lot there,” Kreutzer said. “We are definitely exploring a lot of options via Brandon, both to the (United) States and out east. ”He said the company is also working with Brandon First and Tourism Brandon to develop local tours. Kreutzer said his company has been around for five years and has seen a lot of growth over that time. Expanding to Brandon will continue that trajectory, he said. “We want to put our footprint out there and put our best foot forward. ”A large portion of the company’s work will likely be for sports teams going to tournaments and games, he said. Paradigm has often driven teams to Manitoba for events in Winnipeg, Brandon or Virden, he said. “There’s a lot of sports teams that go play there, and then of course there are a lot of sports teams that come into Saskatchewan,” he said. Emelio Brown, president of the Brandon Chamber of Commerce, said the chamber always welcomes new players into the local market. “Whether it’s going to be job creation or even just supporting the local economy from, say, buying fuel or getting supplies, that would always be a good benefit in our books, along with the potential of tourism as well,” Brown said. He said Paradigm offering tours is “fairly interesting” as it’s not a common offering in the city currently. Having tours stop in Brandon is also positive, Brown said. “Bringing people to Brandon to learn about what we have to offer from a tourism standpoint would be good for our economy,” he said. Brown encouraged Paradigm to build a genuine local presence through local hiring and investing in the city so the benefit is shared with the area the bus line is serving. Kreutzer said Paradigm plans to be available seven days a week and be in Brandon for the long term, adding that prices will be competitive. “We’re going to bring in high quality buses and quality people and hopefully expand further,” Kreutzer said. » alambert@brandonsun. comPrintEmailRead Later
