Fayetteville Mayor Molly Rawn has appointed Jennifer Walker as the city’s chief of staff and Keith Macedo as chief information officer. The appointments are effective immediately and will accommodate city growth, according to a Friday (Aug. 14) news release. Walker joined the city in February and was previously deputy chief financial officer. Macedo joined the city in May 2015 and previously served as chief of staff. “Fayetteville is fortunate to have an experienced leadership team with a deep understanding of our organization and the city,” Rawn said. “Jennifer and Keith are strong leaders with a commitment to public service. These appointments align their experience with the work ahead and strengthen our ability to serve the community. ”The appointments are expected to strengthen the city’s executive leadership structure, expand capacity to coordinate priorities across departments, oversee the expansion of citywide operations, and support the continued growth of the state’s second most populous city. According to the U. S. Census Bureau, Fayetteville is the fourth fastest-growing city in Arkansas and the 137th fastest-growing city in the United States. The population rose by 2. 8% to 106,623 in 2025 from 103,715 in 2024. As chief of staff, Walker is responsible for coordinating administrative priorities, supporting work across multiple departments, and helping ensure that major initiatives have clear ownership, accountability and follow-through. She will also support department directors in addressing issues that require citywide coordination. Walker has more than 20 years of experience in government operations and organizational planning. “Jennifer spent five years at Experience Fayetteville — the city’s Advertising and Promotion Commission — and served as its interim chief executive when I left it for city hall,” Rawn said. “She has been accountable for Fayetteville’s face to visitors and residents alike since 2020. ”Walker’s base salary is $167,800. As chief information officer, Macedo will provide executive leadership for technology, cybersecurity and fleet. He is responsible for strengthening coordination among citywide services that support every department and require long-range planning, capital investment, asset management and risk oversight. Macedo has the designation of certified government chief information officer (CGCIO). He understands city operations and has experience coordinating complex initiatives across departments, the release shows. “Keith was the first city staff member I called to lead the transition work after the 2024 election,” Rawn said. “His institutional knowledge of how Fayetteville works is unmatched. His leadership will elevate our work in cybersecurity and continue to span across departments. ”Macedo’s base salary is $167,690. Related
