Currently, if a County employee wants to include a family member or members in the County health care insurance plan, the employee pays a flat $2oo per month for that coverage. In the new plan, the amount charged for family members will vary according to how many family members the employee wants to cover with the County health care insurance, and the employee will pay 22% of that additional insurance cost. To help the County employees with the cost of health care, the County also approved a new Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) plan. This plan, which will be provided by Higginbotham/Painter and Johnson Financial, will provide up to $1,200 annually to the employee for reimbursement for out-of-pocket health care expenses. This will cover deductibles at hospitals and doctors, but also will cover vision, dental, orthodontics, etc. Elections Administrator Brenda Arp addressed the Commissioners concerning obsolete voting equipment. For many years the County used VOTEC voting equipment, and last used it in May 2025. VOTEC went out of business in the summer of 2025, and the County now uses KNOWiNC voting equipment. Arp suggested keeping certain VOTEC equipment such as scanner and printers, but recommended destroying the actual voting equipment that is no longer usable. Commissioners approved. In other business:*** Commissioners made no change to the County’s burn ban policy, leaving the Burn Ban OFF for now. *** Approved the purchase of a new ice machine for the Precinct 1 barn at a cost of $7,200. *** Approved a bid from Blackhawk Services for 11,800 square feet of paving on CR 334, at a cost of $14,750. *** Approved the installation of a private water line on CR 306 by the Zephyr Water Supply Corp.
