Delta Air Lines has expanded its fare portfolio with the introduction of Basic fares across its premium cabins, giving travellers access to Delta First, Delta Premium Select and Delta One at a lower price while trading off flexibility and selected premium ground benefits. The new fares became available for purchase on 8 July and build on Delta’s Basic, Classic and Extra fare structure introduced across its network over the past year. More choice in premium cabinsThe new fare products include Delta First Basic, Delta Premium Select Basic and Basic Business, the entry-level fare for Delta One. Passengers travelling on Basic fares receive the same inflight experience as those booking Classic or Extra fares, including premium seating, meals and onboard service. However, the lower-priced fares come with restrictions including seat assignment after check-in, reduced checked baggage allowance, lower SkyMiles earning, no complimentary or paid upgrades, fees for changes or cancellations, and no same-day confirmed or standby flight changes. Basic Business customers continue to enjoy the full Delta One onboard experience, including lie-flat seating, chef-curated dining, premium bedding and amenity kits, but do not receive Delta One check-in or lounge access as part of their fare after 19 January 2027. To support the transition, Delta will continue to provide Delta One Lounge and check-in access for Basic Business customers travelling until 18 January 2027. Joe Esposito, Delta’s Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, said the expanded fare range gives customers greater flexibility. “This expansion gives customers more ways to choose the Delta experience that best fits their trip, and a new way to access our premium tier products. ”Rollout underway across selected marketsDelta First Basic is now available on selected domestic US and Latin American routes. Delta Premium Select Basic and Basic Business are available for purchase now, with travel commencing from September on selected domestic US and long-haul international services. Availability will vary by market and route. Delta has not yet confirmed when the new fare products will be introduced on Australia and New Zealand services to Los Angeles. For travel advisors, the new fare structure creates an additional premium price point while reinforcing the need to explain fare inclusions, lounge access and flexibility before booking.
