EU ambassadors assess Ukrainian training in Poland under EUMAM Ukraine | Ukraine news - EUROPE SAYS

EU envoys toured Polish training sites, watching urban combat exercises and tactical medical drills. Their evaluation will influence future coordination of European military support. A delegation of ambassadors from the European Union’s Committee on Foreign and Security Policy familiarized themselves with the progress of Ukrainian military training in Poland as part of the EU Mission for Military Assistance to Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine). According to the press service of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on its official Facebook page, the visit aimed to assess the execution of CAT-C tasks and the effectiveness of the training support provided by EU member states under the mission. The ambassadors learned about the organization of the training process, the range of training courses, and the mechanisms for adapting training programs to changes in combat operations and lessons learned on the battlefield. Special attention within the program was given to observing practical training episodes: rehearsals of actions in urban terrain, infantry unit tactics, and tactical medicine. The demonstration sessions showed how training under EUMAM Ukraine contributes to developing the operational capabilities of Ukrainian service members and meets the current needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Visit’s Significance for Ukraine’s European DefenseThe General Staff stressed that the EUMAM Ukraine mission remains one of the key instruments of the European Union’s Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP). The main aim is to strengthen Ukraine’s defense through coordination of the actions of EU member states in the field of military training, the exchange of experience, and the development of interoperability. Also noted is Poland’s role as the host country for CAT-C and as one of the leading participants in the EUMAM Ukraine mission. Poland’s training infrastructure and the involvement of instructors and service members play an important role in implementing joint European efforts to support Ukraine and strengthen regional security. The General Staff emphasized that the visit of PSC ambassadors affirmed the importance of close cooperation among EU member states in the field of military support to Ukraine and the ongoing improvement of the training system in line with the dynamic requirements of the modern battlefield. It also formed part of the ongoing assessment of the implementation of the EUMAM Ukraine mission and its contribution to developing Ukraine’s defense capabilities. According to the EUMAM Ukraine mission, the EU established this initiative in 2022, aimed at training Ukrainian military personnel on the territory of EU member states. Overall, such dialogue underscores the strategic nature of European support for Ukraine and the member states’ commitment to continuing coordination in training Ukrainian forces to bolster the region’s defenses.
