BRUSSELS — Following the successful conclusion of the third edition of its “Sayfo 1915” exhibitions, held across several venues in the Belgian capital, the European Syriac Union (ESU) issued a statement expressing its sincere gratitude to the institutions and individuals whose support contributed to the success of the initiative. The ESU stated: “We organized three major exhibitions in Belgium to preserve the memory of the Sayfo Genocide committed against the Syriac people in 1915, to share historical truth with the public, and to contribute to our people’s ongoing pursuit of justice. ”Held under the title “Sayfo 1915 – The Syriac People: The Story of a Forgotten Genocide,” the exhibitions took place from 20 April to 4 May at the Woluwe-Saint-Lambert Town Hall, from 5 June to 15 June at the Joli Bois Center in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre, and from June 19 to June 30 at the Escale du Nord Cultural Center in Anderlecht. According to the ESU, the three exhibitions attracted hundreds of attendees to their opening ceremonies, while several thousand visitors explored the displays throughout the exhibition period. Among those in attendance were members of parliament, local elected officials—including mayors, aldermen, and municipal councillors—journalists, academics, church representatives, and civil society leaders, all of whom expressed interest in the history and collective memory of the Syriac people.
