Foreigners gangraped in Pakistan leave for Europe

Last Updated:July 05, 2026, 23:00 ISTRepresentational image (Image: News18)Lahore, Jul 5 (PTI) The two foreign women who were allegedly abducted and gangraped in Lahore last week have left for Europe after completing the necessary legal formalities, Punjab Police said on Sunday. The incident turned into a high-profile case after it emerged that one of the arrested suspects was Pakistan Deputy PM Ishaq Dar’s grandson. Lahore Deputy Inspector General (Operations) Faisal Kamran told a press conference in Lahore on Sunday that medical examinations of the women were conducted after their consent and their statements were recorded with the help of their respective embassies before their departure to Europe. Two women – one from the Netherlands and the other from Venezuela – were allegedly abducted by a group of men on June 29 and gangraped. Police have also arrested another four suspects, taking the total arrest tally to eight in this high-profile case. Kamran identified one of the arrested men – Muhammad Raza Dar (grandson of Ishaq Dar) –as the prime suspect in the case. It emerged that Raza Dar met the two women in Singapore last year, and they were partners in a cryptocurrency venture. He arranged business visas for them for their visit to Pakistan, police said. The other suspects were identified as Hassan Raza, Sikandar Khan and Sajid Ali. They are arrested and on physical remand till July. He said more suspects have arrested but did not disclose their names. They have been booked under sections 365A (kidnapping) and 375A (gang rape) of the Pakistan Penal Code. A Pakistani senator, Senator Faisal Vawda, with close links to the country’s military establishment, on Saturday demanded the resignation of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar after his grandson’s arrest.
