Forty Under 40: Taylor Townsend - Talk Business & Politics

Class of 2026Forty Under 40Taylor TownsendTax PartnerHoganTaylor LLP, FayettevilleTaylor Townsend had a lot of strong math teachers growing up, and one high school math teacher said accounting is a good career for those who like math. The Vilona native took the teacher’s advice and “never looked back after that,” he said. His first job in the field was in 2012 as an intern for a small certified public accounting firm in Little Rock. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 2014 and a master’s degree in accountancy with a taxation concentration in 2015, both from the University of Arkansas. Townsend joined HoganTaylor in 2017 and was promoted multiple times before he was named partner in January. He advises businesses across various industries. He has led tax planning and structuring for a private equity-backed transaction involving a manufacturing company and has advised multi-generational family groups with complex ownership and capitalization structures. He works with over 75 client groups. Townsend is a key leader within the Fayetteville tax practice and leads the firm’s Tax Process Team, helping drive consistency, efficiency and quality across five offices. His leadership has driven improvements in core processes, including business tax return workflows and extension procedures, which affect client experience and team performance. He oversees 20 employees. Career highlights include making partner and leading the Fayetteville tax office. Over the next five years, Townsend looks to solidify HoganTaylor’s market position, build the Fayetteville team to sustain further growth and set the next generation up for success. Before HoganTaylor, Townsend spent two years with KPMG in Dallas, working in the corporate tax group serving Fortune 50 and multinational companies with complex structures. Townsend enjoys spending time outside with family, Razorback games and playing golf. Related
