The Good Morning Britain presenter recalled her struggle after suffering from an 'extreme' deficiency. 12:25, 10 Jul 2026AGood Morning Britainpresenter has recalled a moment she “couldn’t get up” due to an “extreme” deficiency. ITVstarKate Garrawayrevealed on the morning programme that she suffered from a vitamin deficiency a few years ago, explaining her symptoms. The presenter joined Ranvir Singh and DrAmir Khanon the show, to discuss regular vitamin and supplement intakes. Kate explained: “I had an extreme Vitamin D deficiency a few years back when we were on Daybreak. I was entertainment editor and up in the mornings and I probably hadn’t seen daylight in a long time. “And I literally just stopped in my tracks and suddenly couldn't get up from my chair. Vitamin D was blamed but my mum always told me you shouldn’t take too much vitamin D. ”After revealing she was unsure of how much she should have been taking, Dr Amir stressed the importance of the taking the correct dosage of vitamin D. According to theNHS, vitamin D helps to regulate the amount of calcium and phosphate in the body, which are needed for healthy bones, teeth and muscles. A lack of vitamin D can cause rickets in children and bone pain in adults, with the government advising that everyone should consider taking a daily vitamin D supplement during autumn and winter, which Dr Amir echoed on the programme. This isn’t the first time Kate has been open about health issues during appearances onGood Morning Britain. In April, she revealed she was in pain while presenting due to an eye infection. As she opened Good Morning Britain, once again alongside Ranvir, Kate addressed the fact she was wearing glasses. "A very good morning to you," Ranvir opened the show with, to which Kate joked, "Who said that?"She then admitted: "I can't see a thing this morning, Ranvir. ""You're in pain, though, aren't you, a little bit?" Ranvir replied, with Kate going on: "I've got an eye infection, and you know, I wear contacts, and I can't wear my contacts, so I had to buy a pair of glasses, because my other glasses were broken, and I can't really see a thing. "Ranvir replied: "I'm so sorry about this. This morning, we're here to support you,” and went on: "We'll crack on, we'll get through it, won't we? We're here for four hours.
