Hun Sen25th June 2026 – (Beijing) Cambodian People’s Party President and Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen arrived in Beijing on Thursday, 25th June, for a three‑day goodwill visit to China at the invitation of the Communist Party of China. According to a Senate statement issued on 23rd June, the visit runs from 25th to 27th June and underscores the enduring ties between the two nations. Hun Sen is accompanied by Tea Banh, Supreme Adviser to the King and Vice‑President of the Cambodian People’s Party, together with senior representatives from the Senate, National Assembly and government. During his stay in the Chinese capital, Hun Sen is scheduled to meet President Xi Jinping, who also serves as General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee. Separate discussions are planned with Premier Li Qiang and Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress. In addition to his political engagements, Hun Sen is expected to pay an audience to King Norodom Sihamoni, who is recuperating in Beijing following cancer surgery. The Senate described the visit as a reaffirmation of both countries’ commitment to strengthening their “ironclad” friendship and expanding cooperation under their comprehensive strategic partnership. It added that the trip aims to advance the building of a Cambodia–China community with a shared future in the new era. Political analyst Chhot Bunthang said the visit carries particular weight amid global uncertainty, noting that Cambodia is seeking to broaden and reinforce its bilateral and multilateral diplomatic ties. He added that relations with China, grounded in longstanding historical, cultural and diplomatic links, continue to deliver mutual benefits and should be further consolidated despite periodic challenges.
