Kai Kee Noodle in Tsim Sha Tsui to close after 26 years in business

2nd August 2026 – (Hong Kong) Kai Kee Noodle, a long-established eatery at 15C Carnarvon Road in Tsim Sha Tsui, has announced it will close its doors after 26 years of operation, marking the end of an era for one of the district’s familiar culinary fixtures. The restaurant confirmed on social media that its final day of business will be 31st August. The decision to close was attributed to the advancing age of the owner’s parents, who intend to retire. In its farewell message, the management reflected on the challenges faced over the years and expressed heartfelt gratitude to customers for their enduring support, adding that it hoped to meet patrons again should circumstances allow. News of the closure has been met with widespread surprise and disappointment. Many customers said they found it difficult to believe that a restaurant known for strong trade would shut down, with some lamenting that they would soon no longer be able to enjoy its signature dishes. Online tributes recalled favourites such as deep-fried seaweed cuttlefish balls and thick noodles tossed in dark soy sauce, dishes that had become synonymous with the establishment. Founded in 1998, Kai Kee built its reputation on traditional Teochew-style noodles and snacks. Its handmade seaweed cuttlefish balls, noted for their crisp exterior and springy texture infused with the aroma of seaweed, were widely regarded as a must-order item. Other popular offerings included olive vegetable pork rolls and pan-fried cuttlefish patties.
