MJF has been regularly competing in All Elite Wrestling. Due to that, he recently injured his knee during his match against Rush on Dynamite. Fans have been wondering about the future of The Salt of the Earthamid his injury issues. To give a certain clarification, Maxwell Jacob Friedman gave an update on his knee. Friedman has been defending his AEW World Championship again and again on Dynamite in the past few months. Despite having an injury scare, The Salt of the Earth will compete in a high-stakes steel cage match at Forbidden Door 2026. But ahead of the pay-per-view, MJF revealed that his knee is in extreme pain. Speaking to theShut Up and Wrestlepodcast with Brian R. Solomon, Maxwell said that his knee has been in an incredible amount of pain. However, he cannot back down from the action because he believes the AEW main event scene relies on him. The AEW World Champion added that while a doctor may not clear him to wrestle, he has to compete to prove his position. "My knee is f*cked. It’s swollen to sh*t. I’m in a sh*t ton of f*cking pain. But it’s on me because I’m the f*cking top guy and people are leaning on me to make sure that we’re doing well. So I’ve got to f*cking lace my f*cking boots up and get in that g*ddamn ring. And obviously, a doctor is never going to let me go in there unless structurally I’m okay. So don’t think I’m burying the AEW medical team. I’m in a lot of pain, there’s swelling, but structurally, I’m good," said Max.
