The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, NACCIMA has unveiled plans for the third edition of its Business and Investment Forum in Guangzhou, China, aimed at deepening Nigeria-China economic cooperation and attracting strategic investments to support Nigeria’s industrialisation drive. The association said the initiative is part of its commitment to strengthening bilateral economic ties with China while mobilising sustainable foreign direct investment to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda of growing Nigeria into a $1 trillion economy by 2030. Speaking on the forthcoming forum, NACCIMA’s National Public Relations Officer, Madinat Adigun-Oladotun, said the event will take place on the sidelines of the 140th Canton Fair, one of the world’s largest international trade exhibitions, providing a platform for Nigerian businesses and government institutions to engage directly with leading Chinese investors, manufacturers, industrialists and business executives. According to her, the forum is designed to create lasting commercial partnerships that will unlock investment opportunities, facilitate technology transfer, boost local manufacturing and accelerate Nigeria’s economic transformation. She explained that NACCIMA established the Guangzhou Business and Investment Forum to build enduring relationships with credible Chinese investors interested in mutually beneficial partnerships with Nigeria. Adigun-Oladotun noted that the first two editions of the forum had already laid a strong foundation for long-term collaboration between NACCIMA and the China Chamber of International Commerce, CCOIC, Guangzhou, with the support of Nigeria’s Consul General in Guangzhou, Ambassador Mairo Musa Abbas. She disclosed that the partnership is already opening investment opportunities in strategic sectors such as automobile and electric vehicle manufacturing, agribusiness, renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, industrial park development and other key industries critical to Nigeria’s economic diversification agenda. The NACCIMA spokesperson stressed that Nigeria must reposition itself beyond being merely a consumer market by becoming a preferred destination for investment, manufacturing, value addition and industrial development. “Nigeria has the population, natural resources, entrepreneurial spirit and strategic location to serve as the gateway to the African market. To become an economic powerhouse, we must deliberately accelerate industrialisation by prioritising local manufacturing, innovation, value-added processing and reducing our dependence on imports,” she said. She added that achieving this objective would require increased strategic investments, improved infrastructure, greater access to finance, advanced technology and stronger international partnerships, particularly with China. Adigun-Oladotun called on state governors, federal ministries, departments and agencies, as well as private sector organisations, to participate in the Guangzhou trade mission and leverage the platform to attract quality investments, strengthen local manufacturing, promote skills development and create sustainable jobs. She also urged state governments to showcase their investment opportunities by participating in the forum, describing it as a unique avenue to engage directly with credible Chinese investors and secure partnerships aligned with their comparative economic advantages. Describing Guangzhou as one of the world’s foremost commercial and manufacturing hubs and host of the renowned Canton Fair, she encouraged Nigerian businesses and investors to join the trade mission, expressing confidence that the initiative would deepen Nigeria-China economic cooperation and catalyse investments capable of accelerating the country’s industrial growth and long-term economic development.
