Malacañang on Monday simply laughed off Vice President Sara Duterte’s allegation that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. might be a pro-China sympathizer, calling the insinuation funny. Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace press officer Claire Castro pointed out the President’s record in upholding the country’s rights and sovereignty amid the row over the West Philippine Sea. ”She said she found the Vice President’s insinuations to be amusing. She also asked why Duterte and her brother, Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo Duterte were the only personalities opposing Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. ’s call for government officials to quit if they do not uphold Philippine interests. Earlier, the Vice President said Marcos could be potentially considered as pro-China even without a list identifying so-called pro-China government officials.
