Barn & Charm owner Tina Decker recounted the theft to KHTS and is urging the Santa Clarita Valley community for help to identify the suspect who stole merchandise on multiple days this last week. The man first came in on Tuesday, July 28, around 4:30 P. M. , according to Decker. She noted his interest in rings at another display and began assisting him. The man told Decker and a vendor who happened to be in the shop that he was looking for jewelry for his daughter, then left without making a purchase. The next day, on Wednesday, Decker was informed by a customer that one of the display cases was damaged. Upon further inspection, it was apparent that the lock had been broken and there were noticeable gaps in the jewelry display inside. Decker proceeded to check the cameras while she waited for a text response from the vendor whose display had been damaged. To her shock, she saw the same man who had come in on Tuesday entering Barn and Charm, pretending to use a small set of bolt cutters to break the lock, looting several items, and then leaving. It was only after she viewed the footage from Tuesday that Decker realized the man had actually stolen a ring from another display on his first visit. The stolen jewelry is valued at several hundred dollars, with one diamond and sapphire necklace alone worth $325. Decker stated the possibility that there could be more that was stolen.
