Pak to export 60,000 tonnes of rice to China, claims export body

Last Updated:July 23, 2026, 20:30 ISTRepresentational image (Image: News18)Karachi, Jul 23 (PTI) Pakistan will be exporting 60,000 tonnes of rice to two provinces of China in the fiscal year 2026/27, a trade body said Thursday. The Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP), which has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with China’s Guangzhou and Shenzhen provinces, said there could be export orders approximately valued at USD 300 to 400 million. Recommended StoriesA 20-member REAP delegation is presently on a visit to China until July 28, its vice chairman Javed Jilani said in a statement. In 2025/26, Pakistan exported USD 124 million worth of rice to China, he said. “The visit proved to be very productive for REAP since there is a valuable market for imported rice in China," Jilani said, adding, Pakistan will export both Basmati and non-Basmati rice in the new orders. “We will also soon start exporting corn to China as they have begun registering Pakistani traders for corn," he claimed. After textiles, REAP is the second largest export body in Pakistan contributing around USD 2 billion per annum to the economy, the statement said. The visit had been facilitated by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan.
