Through thePEACEPLUS Programme, managed by theSpecial EU Programmes Body (SEUPB), theAll-Island Public Health Knowledge Hub (PHKH)is strengthening cross-border cooperation in public health by developing a shared evidence base to support better policymaking and improved health outcomes. Led by theInstitute of Public Health (IPH)in partnership with theBamford Centre for Mental Health and Wellbeing at Ulster Universityand theGlobal Brain Health Institute at Trinity College Dublin, the three-year project has received€2. 4 millionin PEACEPLUS funding. A key focus of the initiative is the development of a new digital platform that will securely host public health data from across Ireland and Northern Ireland, making information more accessible to policymakers, public health professionals, researchers, community organisations, and the wider public. The project will also deliver a new all-island survey to collect directly comparable population-level health data across both jurisdictions. By creating a consistent and harmonised set of public health indicators, the Public Health Knowledge Hub will help strengthen the evidence base for decision-making, improve understanding of shared health challenges, and identify opportunities for coordinated responses. The project will also support efforts to address health inequalities and improve long-term health outcomes for communities across the island. Through this investment, SEUPB is enabling a practical example of cross-border collaboration, demonstrating how shared data, research, and innovation can support healthier communities and contribute to lasting peace and prosperity across the region.
