Medicine needs leaders who build, not just managers who administer and not politicization, said on Thursday the president of the Romanian College of Physicians (CMR), Catalina Poiana, who announced that a program dedicated to leadership for Health will be launched in the immediate future. "Leadership in health does not just mean managing resources or coordinating teams. It means the ability to build, create direction and inspire people to work together for a common goal: development for health. An authentic leader is not defined by the position he holds, but by the impact he leaves behind. He builds teams, forms generations, supports performance and creates a climate in which professionalism and responsibility become well-defined directions. Health systems that perform are not built exclusively through investments in infrastructure or technology. They are built by people who have the courage to assume change, make decisions, develop teams and people", the CMR president wrote on Facebook. In her opinion, Romania needs a new model of leadership in health, based on competence, integrity, collaboration and communication. At the same time, says Catalina Poiana, leading in healthcare means more than managing the present, it means building the future, preparing the next generation of doctors and creating institutions capable of adapting to change and strengthening society's trust in the medical profession. "In the end, the most important question for any leader is not how many people he coordinated, but what he built for those who will come after him. Authentic leadership is not measured by the power you have, but by the future you build. In the immediate future, we will launch a program dedicated to Leadership for Health", mentioned Poiana.
