The Department of Social and Preventive Medicine (SPM), Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya, welcomedBrigadier General Dato’ (Dr. ) Mohd Farid bin AliasandLt Col Dr Shazwani Mohamadon10 August 2026for a discussion on a public health programme for children in military camps. Brigadier General Dato’ (Dr. ) Mohd Farid, who serves asDirector-General of the Health Cell (Ketua Pengarah Sel Kesihatan), Army Headquarters (Markas Tentera Darat), is an alumnus of theMaster of Public Health (MPH) programme at Universiti Malaya. Lt Col Dr Shazwani is currently completing her MPH studies at the Department. During their visit, they met withProfessor Dr Rafdzah Ahmad ZakiandAssociate Professor Dr Lim Yin Chengto discuss the public health programme for children in military camps. They also paid a courtesy visit toProfessor Dr Victor Hoe, Head of the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine. The visit provided an opportunity for discussion and engagement between the Department and representatives of the military health services on public health initiatives involving children in military communities.
