Western Wisconsin health clinic in lockdown amid 'active situation'

A health clinic in western Wisconsin is in lockdown Thursday afternoon as law enforcement responds to an “active situation. ”The Barron County Sheriff’s Department confirmed to 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS that its deputies are part of a response to a active scene at Marshfield Medical Center in Rice Lake. However, the sheriff’s office wouldn’t yet confirm any other information. The Rice Lake health center is roughly two hours northeast of the Twin Cities, and approximately 50 miles north of Eau Claire. The center’s website says it offers both inpatient and outpatient practice, covering a wide range of services. An employee at the clinic confirmed that the health center is in lockdown, adding that she heard reports of an active shooter. However, those reports have not yet been confirmed. As this time, no reports of injuries have surfaced. For now, people are asked to avoid the area. 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS is working to confirm additional information.
