To the Editor:In American politics, we have MAGA loyal Trump supporters and “never-Trumpers. ” Worldwide politics has nationalism against globalism. In economics, we have capitalists and socialists competing vehemently. We have avid Israel and Jew supporters vs. antisemites. In Christianity, we have a God of love. In Islam, they have a god that is never associated with love. Christianity’s M. O. is promotion without coercion. Islam’s M. O. is promotion by the sword. Another diametric religious dichotomy is between Christianity (the religion we try to separate from state) and secular humanism (our current state religion) that the government fully supports both physically and financially. You might question whether secular humanism is a religion. However, humanists admitted that they were a religion for more than 100 years, the United States Supreme Court stated that secular humanism was a religion, and our dictionary also identifies secular humanism as a religion. Are all the diametric opposition concerns cited above just happenstance, or is there a fundamental cause that requires diametric opposition on issues? Why aren’t most of the debates about small shades of gray rather than diametric opposition on every issue? Why did they kill Jesus, who was sinless? He didn’t hurt people; he healed and helped them. Why do people today want to kill and destroy unborn babies when they have done no wrong? There is a fundamental cause that explains this virtually unexplainable situation. What is the single word that explains total opposition on every issue? It is rebellion! A rebel is always against what the authority above him is trying to teach or promote! God, by his creative action and nature, must be the legitimate authority. Those of us that have been created by him either need to recognize him as the legitimate authority and submit to him, or rebel against him. There are no other choices. Romans 1:18 states, “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness. ” Those of us that are rebelling have a conflict of interest with the truth and must either reject (suppress) the truth or have it condemn us. The Bible teaches in Romans 13 that we should respect and obey our political leaders since they are the legitimate authority, unless or until they ask us to violate God’s laws. Our family has a similar authority hierarchy as the government. We also see our culture completely in rebellion against the type of family that God created. Truth is getting harder and more difficult to identify with all the suppression and propaganda being promoted. Now with AI, it is even harder to differentiate between truth and false narratives. It all starts with us wanting to know and follow the truth. The default appears to be self-centeredness and enjoying rebellion against God!Bill NitardyVillage of Sunset Pointe
