On 16thJune 2026, Deliveroo Middle East and Alshaya Group announced a partnership to make more than 10 retail brands available for on-demand delivery across the UAE and Kuwait. The launch covers beauty, personal care, kids, toys and homeware. Brands include Boots, Bath & Body Works, NYX Professional Makeup, Mothercare, Muji, Ulta Beauty and Dr. Vranjes. Disney Store will also be available for delivery exclusively through Deliveroo. The two companies already work together. Alshaya operates Starbucks, Shake Shack, Raising Cane’s, Chipotle, The Cheesecake Factory and P. F. Chang’s across the Gulf, and these restaurants are on Deliveroo for food delivery. The new deal extends the existing relationship from food into non-food retail. Deliveroo Plus customers will receive rewards and free delivery on eligible orders from Alshaya brands, incentivising adoption. Alshaya is a Kuwaiti family-owned business, which is one of the largest international franchise operators in the Middle East, running over 50 brands across more than 3,500 stores, restaurants and leisure destinations in MENA, Turkey and Europe. Its portfolio includes Starbucks, H&M, American Eagle, Foot Locker, Victoria’s Secret, Charlotte Tilbury, Primark, Shake Shack and Chipotle. It also operates over 125 online and digital businesses and runs Aura, one of the region’s largest retail loyalty programmes. Alshaya is growing: it opened Primark’s first Middle East store in Kuwait in late 2025, followed by three Dubai locations by May 2026, and has committed to 500 new Starbucks stores across the region over the next five years. For Alshaya, this partnership adds an on-demand delivery channel to its existing physical infrastructure without building its own logistics. Deliveroo was acquired by DoorDash in 2025. The Alshaya deal follows DoorDash’s global strategy of expanding delivery platforms beyond food into general retail. In the US, DoorDash already delivers from convenience stores, pharmacies and retail shops. Because restaurant delivery is low-margin and highly competitive, platforms like Deliveroo, Bolt Food and Glovo have been moving into grocery retail across the Middle East and Africa. Non-food retail is the next step, and helps increase order volume and rider utilisation outside of mealtimes.
