Jeddah Islamic Porthas introduced a new logistics incentive package, including extended storage fee exemption periods for transit cargo, effective July 19, 2026, as part of efforts to enhance supply chain efficiency and reinforce the competitiveness of Saudi Arabia’s ports in global trade. The initiative introduces three key measures aimed at providing greater operational flexibility for customers. These include extending the storage fee exemption period for transit containers to 15 days, providing a five-day exemption for general transit cargo, and offering a five-day exemption for roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) cargo and vehicles. The measures are designed to improve the efficiency of shipping, storage and re-export operations while strengthening Jeddah Islamic Port’s position as a leading regional and international trade hub. As Saudi Arabia’s largest Red Sea port, Jeddah Islamic Port plays a vital role in connecting global trade routes between East and West. The port handles millions of tonnes of cargo and containers annually and serves as a key component of regional and international supply chains. Industry specialists said the extended exemption periods are expected to help reduce operating costs for investors and shipping companies, while enhancing the port’s attractiveness as a transit and transshipment hub. The initiative is also expected to support higher cargo volumes and improve overall logistics performance. The incentive package aligns with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which aims to establish Saudi Arabia as a global logistics centre connecting three continents through its strategic location, advanced port infrastructure and expanding digital and operational capabilities. With the measures now in effect, Jeddah Islamic Port is expected to strengthen its role as a strategic maritime gateway, supporting trade growth and enabling more efficient and sustainable movement of goods across global markets.
